Project Overview
Bea's Detroit opened in Eastern Market in March 2020 and had to pivot almost immediately because of the pandemic. Owners Bea and Eli Wolnerman adapted to "the new world" by adding a tiny wedding program, and Bea's soon became one of the city's premier wedding venues, while still working as a boutique co-working space and a charming café. The brand needed to reflect those changes and explain the versatility of the space quickly, without confusing anyone.
Our concept came from travel and tourism campaigns, the kind that make a city or country a must-see destination by showing everything you can do there, from simple and traditional to weird and wacky. Bea's works the same way. The long list of things to do is an asset, and there's more than you can experience in one visit, so you keep coming back. It's the "place to bea."
Project Brief
Rebrand Bea's Detroit to reflect its post-pandemic offerings, including small weddings and events
Communicate the range of the space, from café to co-working to event venue, without confusing the audience
Give it a brand of its own that complements its sister brand, Bea's Squeeze, which we also rebranded
Project Outcomes
The identity earned two Indigo Design Awards in 2022, Gold in Branding for Services and Silver in Branding for Graphic Design, and a Creative Communication Award Honorable Mention in 2021.
